The National Treasure “Fujin Raisin-zu Byobu(Wind and Thunder Gods)” (owned by Kenninji temple) is said to have been painted by Tawaraya Sotatsu, a painter from the Edo period.
About 70 years later, Ogata Korin copied it.
About a hundred years later, Hoitsu Sakai copied it, and about a hundred years later, Sakai Hoitsu made a copy, establishing the “Rimpa” school of art.
This set of Japanese chopsticks replicates the iconic work of Rimpa, the “Fujin Raisin-zu” painting.
The chopsticks are made using the traditional Japanese craft of Wakasa lacquerware.
The handle is stamped with gold for the Wind God and silver for the Thunder God.
The handle features a gold-leaf depiction of Fujin(the Wind God) and a silver depiction of Raijin (the Thunder God), while the tips of the chopsticks are processed with an easy-to-grip non-slip coating.
